7 Summer Adventures to Enjoy at Beyul Retreat

Beyul Retreat at The Diamond J Ranch, is a historic lodge and cabins surrounded by Holy Cross and White River forests, embody the quintessential Colorado Mountain experience and is an epic playground for all. Set in a remote wilderness area just an hour from Aspen, Colorado offers endless recreation possibilities and beauty! There are too many places to tell you about, but here are 7 of our favorite activities you must enjoy that are just within reach of our 32-acre oasis here in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

 

Hagerman’s Pass 4WD

Follow the rail line in your jeep, OHV rig or dirt bike and head over Hagerman’s pass from Leadville and stop at Beyul Retreat on your way down to Basalt. Just under a 12-mile point-point primarily used from June-November. Hagerman’s pass is a popular moderate 4-wheel drive trail located on the continental divide between Leadville and Basalt.

 

Cycling

Beyul Retreat located on Frying Pan Road (CR104) is a 32 mile paved road that climbs from the town of Basalt and intersects Hagerman’s Pass and meanders through the towns of Basalt, Meredith, Thomasville, Norrie Colony, and Nast. Into dirt? Hit one of the many single-track trails located just off of Frying Pan Rd or enjoy a day at Snowmass Mountain Bike Park just an hour away and head back to Beyul for a campfire evening with friends.

 

Paddle Boarding at Reudi Dam and Reservoir

There’s much recreation to enjoy at the reservoir like motorized and non-motorized boating, water skiing, fishing and paddle boarding being one of our favorite activities.

 

Fly Fishing

Enjoy the tranquility and gold water fishing of our private stretch of the Frying Pan River here at Beyul Retreat. Or head down to Reudi Reservoir and enjoy the abundance of shoreline surrounded by towering mountain peaks.

 

Rock Climbing

Bring the whole crew and enjoy a day of rock climbing in the nearby Pan Handle, Lime Creek and 7 Castles.

 

Dale & Gail Horseback Riding

With a true love for the outdoors, the stables of Dale & Gail is a family run outfitter and located just a short .5 miles up Frying Pan Road and offer 35 years’ experience in the backcountry. Enjoy breathtaking scenery of the surrounding peaks and high mountain lakes on horseback.

 

Hikes to High Alpine Lakes

Hike to high mountain lakes in the White River and Holy Cross Wilderness area. Whether you’re hiking straight from our 32-acre property or the hitting one of the many trails in just a short drive, you’ll enjoy incredible high-country tranquility and scenery.
