Session Descriptions

  • The Biology of Presence with Zach Bush, MD:

The last twenty years of science has revealed the concept of human biology as a single species phenomena is profoundly limiting, and has in fact contributed to our inability to achieve the vital health we are capable of. To be human is to be an ecosystem. The vast microbiology within us, not just in our gut, but throughout every organ system, and ultimately within every single cell of our body, is what makes us human. These microbes in their grandiose genetic and functional diversity create within us the capacity to self organize in our mother's womb, holding unique vibrational identity at the cellular and human level to produce feelings, thoughts, and creativity. To date, humans are the most advanced anatomical vessel that this planet has produced, allowing for more nature to speak through a single neurology and consciousness than any other species. There has been no better moment in history than now to sense into and be present with our biology and what is trying to emerge within each one of us, within the ecosystem of humanity. Zach will explore the origins of life, mastering the biology of human consciousness, the root cause of the collapse of human and planetary health, and our role in co-creating a regenerative future for humanity and the planet.

  • How We Begin to Remember: Novelty, Complexity and the Future of Humanity with Jamie Wheal:
It’s vital that we regain control of the stories we’re telling because they are shaping the future we’re creating. To do that, we have to remember our deepest inspiration, heal our pain and apathy, and connect to each other like never before. Jamie Wheal is the author of Recapture the Rapture: Rethinking God, Sex and Death In a World That's Lost Its Mind and the global bestseller Stealing Fire: How Silicon Valley, Navy SEALs, and Maverick Scientists Are Revolutionizing the Way We Live and Work and the founder of the Flow Genome Project, an international organization dedicated to the research and training of human performance. Jamie is also on Beyul Retreat's advisory board, His ideas and practices have been inspirational in Beyul's commitment to community resilience.

  • Bridging the Realms of Physicality and Intellect with Ashley Turner:

Ashley’s yoga ritual will explore how we can evolve our consciousness and thrive within new models of relationship, embodiment and aging as a spiritual practice. How do we use the body as a vehicle for consciousness? How do we interrupt our habitual patterns of thought, response and behavior and use ritual as a tool for deep listening, connection and healing? Ashley will lead both a movement practice and a discussion throughout the weekend, bridging the realms of physicality and intellect.

  • Relationship as Sacred Nourishment and Spiritual Crucibles in the Digital Age with Eli Buren & Alexandra Roxo:

In the times we currently live in, how are we living within a new model of relationship, marriage, or family life?  Many of us are approaching relationships in ways we have not seen modeled in our families before:  seeing relationships as a space of spiritual transformation, a place of sacred mirror of our own patterns and blind spots, and a sacred ground amidst turbulent and uncertain times. And practicing cultivating courage to end patterns and behaviors in our lineages and model a new paradigm of love to our children, by turning towards our fears and opening our hearts, minds, and bodies beyond our old patterns and the old paradigm we were given.

How do we build the inner resilience to meet connection with loved ones with openness beyond our habitual patterns and let the sacred bond of two people water the well of the wider community?

Join sacred intimacy mentors and teachers Eli and Alexandra for a rich conversation into all of this and more, followed by group and partner practices, and Q & A.

  • Nature Medicine Workshop with Brooks Barron (Sunday Beyul Host Land Exploration)

Curious about deepening your connection to nature? Join soul guide & transformation coach Brooks Barron in the practice of cultivating open, vulnerable, loving and reciprocal relationship with the land in a way that nourishes your soul. Engage in deep conversation with the more-than-human world and get a dose of Nature Medicine. Let the wilds surrounding Beyul see you to your soul, hold you in your vulnerability, and guide you into clarity around that which is yours to do in this moment of your life.

  • Wild River Swimming Hole Hike with Ashley Meyers (Saturday Beyul Host Land Exploration)

Take a short flat hike to swim in the Frying Pan River and bask in the sun at Beyul team member Ashley Meyers' favorite secret spot, which features wide deep calm pools and big boulders to climb on. We suggest wearing water shoes like Chacos or Tevas, but they are not necessary. Wear a swimsuit, or skinny dipping is fine too at this clothing-optional private location. BYO sunscreen & water bottle!

  • Movement practices including yoga, Qi Gong, wildflower & herb walks on the land, and hiking in White River National Forest

  • Evenings will feature music & dancing, a drum circle, outdoor bonfires, and late-night candlelit yoga.

  • Organic farm-to-table brunches & dinners featuring seasonal local ingredients, including a long-table dinner in the Aspen Grove.

  • Follow your own flow: Get out further for a trail run or bike ride. Reset your nervous system in the sauna & cold plunge, or test your mettle with a wild river dip. And of course, curl up by the fireplace in the Main Lodge or in your cabin, with your journal, a good book, or in conversation with a newfound friend.

Day tickets for August 3rd and August 4th Include:

  • Full day of programing and speakers

  • Brunch and Dinner

David Brown

Under the alias CASTANEA, Rising Appalachia’s David Brown takes to the stage to remix and combine acoustic and electronic sound. Along with the instruments for which he’s best known – the upright bass and baritone guitar – Brown’s skills cross over to turntables and beat making, through which a lush sound emerges that is inspired by many genres of electronic music but based in the soulful tones that arise from Appalachia. The name of the project, CASTANEA, like the music, has layers of meaning. Derived from the name of the chestnut genus, it points to a tree that is slowly recovering from the brink of extinction in the eastern forests of North America (castanea dentata).
