Journey Inwards: A Transformative Yoga Retreat

A Sacred Journey of Community and Connection

Join us for a profound weekend of self-discovery and communal transformation at the breathtaking Beyul Retreat. Together, we will honor ancient traditions of labyrinth building, the sacred fire, and calling in our ancestors as we align our practice with the spirit of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

This retreat is designed to guide you on a deep inward journey, where every experience—from yoga and meditation to breathwork and sound healing—will help you connect to your inner wisdom, transmute what no longer serves you, and invite in transformation.

What to Expect:

Building a Sacred Labyrinth

At the heart of this retreat, we will come together as a community to co-create a permanent labyrinth on the sacred grounds of Beyul Retreat. This labyrinth will symbolize the twists and turns of life, a pathway to reflection, transformation, and the honoring of our ancestors. This will be a powerful experience of unity and intention-setting.

Sacred Fire Ceremony and Ancestor Calling

On Friday night, we will gather around the sacred fire to honor those who have passed, calling in the wisdom of our ancestors as part of a ceremonial drum circle. The fire's energy will help us transform and transmute what we wish to change in our lives, burning away the old to make space for the new. This ritual, held in connection with the Day of the Dead, will help us reflect on cycles of life, death, and rebirth, supported by the warmth of community and tradition.

Celebration of the Labyrinth and Movement Meditation

On Saturday night, after our day of co-creating the labyrinth, we will celebrate with a movement meditation. This practice will clear and cleanse our energy and chakras, allowing us to express joy and connection through the fun, free movement of our bodies. It will be a time to celebrate what we’ve built as a community, and reconnect with our own unique expressions of joy and freedom.

Spiritual Psychology Principles and Practices

Throughout the retreat you’ll be given a core set of Spiritual Psychology principles and solo journaling and partner practices designed to assist you in reorienting your perception from one of living life to achieve and attain “out there,” and to instead use your outer dreams, gifts, skills, and unresolved issues as a way to go inside and release what’s preventing you from choosing your inherent worth, creativity, wisdom, and love, here and now.

Retreat Activities:

Morning Meditation for Peace, Serenity, and Intention Setting

Begin each day with a peaceful morning meditation, allowing you to set your intentions, cultivate serenity, and create inner calm for the day ahead.

Invigorating Yoga

Awaken your body and spirit with a dynamic combination of breathwork, Kundalini yoga, and Vinyasa flow. These practices are designed to open your heart, ground your mind, and energize your entire being for the day ahead. Experience the power of breath to cultivate focus and clarity, the uplifting energy of Kundalini to awaken inner strength, and the fluid movement of Vinyasa to connect body and spirit.

Breathwork & Cold Plunge

As part of your "Journey Inwards," experience the transformative power of breathwork combined with cold plunging. Through mindful breathwork, prepare your body and mind to enter the cold plunge with calm and clarity. This practice supports your inner journey by boosting your immune system, improving circulation, and sharpening your mental focus. The cold immersion helps you confront internal resistance, building resilience and leaving you feeling deeply refreshed, centered, and ready to continue your personal transformation.

Movement Meditation

On Saturday night, celebrate and cleanse your energy with flowing, intuitive movement set to the rhythm of tribal music inspired by our ancestors. The grounding beats of drums and music connected to the natives of this earth will guide you in clearing your chakras and reconnecting with the joy and freedom of your body’s natural expression. This powerful, rhythmic experience will help you align with the earth’s energy, celebrate your inner journey, and express your spirit with fun and freedom.

Sacred Fire Ceremony & Drum Circle

On Friday night, we will gather for a powerful fire ceremony, where the sacred energy of the fire will help us call in our ancestors and release what no longer serves us. As the flames rise, we will transmute the old, clearing space to invite in what we deeply desire. This transformative energy will set the stage for the labyrinth building on Saturday, laying the groundwork for the intentional path we will create together. The labyrinth will embody this journey of release and renewal, guiding us inward toward deeper self-awareness and connection with the wisdom of our ancestors. Our journey begins with a cacao offering to open the heart.

Gretchen Bleiler

Olympic Silver Medalist & Spiritual Facilitator

Gretchen Bleiler is a two-time Olympian and Olympic silver medalist who after retiring from competition, injured from too many concussions, her life began to unravel.  As the foundational columns that had made up her identity, such as purpose, relationship, career, and health, fell away, she was left in a darkness of unconscious limiting beliefs and stigma that left her disoriented, directionless, and fragmented for years. Through five years of study in Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica, she’s experienced the gold she was always seeking on her Olympic journey.  Now she brings her unique blend of personal life experience and spiritual insight to work 1:1 and with groups to facilitate the Principles and Practices of Spiritual Psychology to assist others in claiming their power and awakening to the truth of who they are.

Freddy Barrera

With over 13 years of yoga and meditation practice, and two years of teaching experience, Freddy has embarked on a transformative journey of healing and self-discovery. At the Journey Inwards retreat, he brings his deep understanding of breathwork as a vital source of energy, helping participants cultivate awareness of body, mind, and spirit.

Freddy’s background as a movement specialist and lifelong Latin salsa dancer infuses his teaching with rhythm, creativity, and joy. His expertise extends beyond the mat, with over 16 years as a professional ski and snowboard instructor and 3 years as a dirtbike instructor, enriching his understanding of balance, agility, and movement.

Freddy’s approach is rooted in creating a nurturing environment where individuals can explore their potential, connect with themselves, and embrace their unique journeys inward. Through yoga, meditation, breathwork, and body movement, Freddy will guide you in discovering the joy and freedom that comes with honoring your personal path of transformation.

Travis Twoey

Travis Twoey, a 46-year-old spiritual warrior based in Carbondale, Colorado, brings a deep connection to nature and spiritual exploration to the Journey Inwards retreat. As a Kundalini yoga teacher at Vinana Yoga in Basalt, Travis helps others tap into their inner strength and awaken to their true potential through dynamic breathwork and movement practices.

With years of experience working in natural environments, Travis has honed his skills in building and creating sacred spaces, making him an invaluable asset to the retreat’s labyrinth-building experience. His passion for hiking, climbing mountains, and camping has given him a profound understanding of the land, and his ability to harmonize with nature enhances the transformative power of the retreat.
