Operations Manager:

You’ll be responsible for supporting the management of the day-to-day operation of Beyul, including but not limited to the front desk, housekeeping, and property staff, while supporting the General Manager in providing overall leadership in Beyul’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest experience, badass events, and financial profitability.

We are looking for a team leader and a numbers wizard who is nimble and systems-minded, with a passion for human optimization, nature, and creative hospitality

Assistant Property Manager:

Given our remote locale, situated an hour away from the nearest store, the majority of maintenance and repair tasks are conducted in-house. This pivotal role demands a versatile skill set, essential for upholding the high standards of our expansive remote retreat center.

In addition to the physical tasks required at Beyul Retreat, there is also a communal aspect to this position, within work and lifestyle. Whether during events, build projects, or daily maintenance, the Beyul Retreat has a small, committed team that requires strong social skills and maintenance. We hope to find someone who can work collaborative, iterate on procedures constantly, and communicate effectively in a wide variety of contexts

Beyul Retreat, a backcountry adventure lodge meets wellness retreat, is now hiring a couple for the positions of Assistant Property Manager and Operations Manager, who will be dedicated onsite team members at Beyul and work seamlessly together and with the rest of the team to ensure the property's maintenance and operations run smoothly.

These positions are also listed separately for the Assistant Property Manager and the Operations Manager.

Assistant Property Manager Job Description

    • Conduct repair and maintenance tasks in cabins and lodge including replacing parts, plumbing and electrical issues.

    • Implement preventive maintenance programs to prolong the lifespan of cabin facilities.

    • Coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs as needed.

    • Be scheduled for one to two on-call shifts each week, maintaining readiness to respond to work-related issues, emergencies, or requests. The Assistant Property Manager will be reachable via radio for effective communication during on-call and other scheduled shifts.

    • Manage and oversee waste disposal and recycling programs, ensuring the proper collection, segregation, and environmentally responsible disposal of trash in compliance with local regulations.

    • Maintain utilities such as electrical, propane, water and internet.

    • Maintain appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, commercial kitchen, boilers, hot water heaters.

    • Conduct routine inspections, identify issues, and implement repairs or improvements.

    • Implement effective rodent control measures to safeguard premises and maintain a pest-free environment.

    • Maintain roads and walkways on the property, ensuring they are safe, well-maintained, and free from hazards.

    • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or resurfacing projects.

    • Implement snow removal and ice management during winter months.

    • Ensure the grounds and building exteriors are well-groomed, aesthetically pleasing, and aligned with the retreat center's overall aesthetic.

    • Repair damage for road, walkway maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping and snow removal

    • Maintain and repair the ditches and ponds throughout the property

    • Ensure regular maintenance and upkeep of vehicles and equipment to support the efficiency and reliability of operations, including but not limited to truck, electric ranger, plow, lawn mower, tractor, chain saws, weed wackers and trailers.

    • Contribute to venue setup and arrangements, including furniture moving, layout, decor, and signage, to create a welcoming and visually appealing atmosphere for event attendees.

    • Provide valuable catering support by managing trash disposal, dishwashing, and efficient serving assistance to guarantee a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for all event participants.

    • Proficiently handle audiovisual setup tasks, ensuring all equipment is properly installed, tested, and maintained for seamless event execution.

    • Oversee the maintenance of amenities like hot tubs, saunas, and cold plunge pools.

    • Conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.

    • Ensure all amenities are in optimal working condition for guest use.

    • Maintain firewood storage, production, and distribution to cabins and communal spaces

    • Maintain seasonal guest amenities such as trails, ice skating pond, cross country track, paddle boards and yard games.

    • Manage and maintain the water systems for the lodge and cabins, ensuring consistent and reliable supply.

    • Conduct regular inspections, identify leaks, freezes or inefficiencies, and implement necessary repairs or upgrades.

    • Monitor water quality and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory property management and maintenance requirements.

    • Develop and maintain safety protocols and emergency response plans specific to property maintenance.

    • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential hazards.

Who We’re Looking For

    • Ability to maintain and repair plumbing and electrical,

    • Carpentry, repair work, construction and renovation work a plus

    • Required to drive pick-up truck and snow removal equipment.

    • Ability to maintain logs and records.

    • Requires a professional presentation and an ability to work in a team atmosphere and to make independent decisions.

  • High school diploma or equivalent trade school, special courses in building maintenance and construction.

Operations Manager Job Description

    • Conduct two to three front desk shifts weekly to ensure a hands-on understanding of guest interactions.

    • Schedule and oversee the front desk and guest experience teams to ensure exceptional service and satisfaction for all guests.

    • Maintain and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for front-of-house operations.

    • Handle guest feedback and resolve any issues to ensure a positive experience.

    • Act as "Manager on Duty" on a rotational basis, collaborating with other managers to oversee property operations, ensuring a seamless and secure work environment.

    • Be scheduled for one to two on-call shifts each week, maintaining readiness to respond to work-related issues, emergencies, or requests. The Operations Manager will be reachable via radio for effective communication during on-call and other scheduled shifts.

    • Oversee laundry and cleaning operations, and personally support cleaning staff as needed to maintain the property's high standards of cleanliness and organization.

    • Oversee and execute the biweekly payroll process for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate compensation.

    • Manage accounts payable for contractors, including cleaning, maintenance, and event contractors, while upholding financial accountability and vendor relationships.

    • Oversee the Guest Experience team to facilitate the month-end closing process, maintaining financial accuracy and compliance.

    • Work closely with the GM to develop and manage the operations budget.

    • Allocate resources effectively to meet operational goals while maintaining financial sustainability.

    • Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures where applicable.

    • Oversee the Events team to ensure flawless execution of events, including weddings, corporate offsites, and retreats.

    • Coordinate front-of-house, back-of-house, and the property team to provide seamless service during events.

    • Conduct post-event debriefs to gather feedback and make necessary improvements.

    • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

    • Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and professional development sessions.

    • Oversee the Property and Events teams to ensure seamless coordination between functions.

    • Oversee the Kitchen team to ensure high-quality culinary offerings for guests and events.

    • Work with the Kitchen team to develop menus, manage inventory, and control costs.

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen.

    • Implement strategic plans for operations, guest experience, and events and provide updates to the Executive team.

    • Identify areas for improvement and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operations and implement corrective actions as needed.

    • Learn from the Property team what is required to oversee the maintenance of physical assets, including buildings, landscaping, and equipment.

    • Implement preventive maintenance programs to prolong the life of property assets.

    • Manage any necessary renovations or repairs in coordination with the Property team.

    • Manage the day-to-day tasks by setting priorities and problem-solving with the Property team, interfacing with other functions as required.

Who We’re Looking For

    • Deep experience working in hospitality

    • Experience with finance and accounting, including mastery of Excel, and are a numbers nerd

    • Work onsite 5 days per week. We have arranged a cabin available for rent across the street; or arrange your own housing nearby.

    • The ability to work a varied schedule that includes evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

    • Creativity, flexibility, and a self-starter mindset. We’re still a “startup” business at just 2 years old, and the teammates who thrive here are energized by building something new – and all the ambiguity, fast-paced change, and pride that comes with that.

    • The ability to work on your feet for several hours during events and to lift 25lbs (a case of wine, a tote full of laundry, etc.) regularly. Some days you’ll be at your computer much of the day, and others you’ll be on the move helping run event production for a wedding, live music concert, corporate event, etc.

    • Strong organizational and analytical skills

    • Genuine hospitality mindset with guests, and care for your teammates as well

    • Must be proficient in or able to quickly learn a variety of software and other IT systems.

    • Has a positive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn and to adapt to “ranch life”

    • Have a degree from a four-year college or university (Hospitality, Hotel Administration, Business, Marketing Finance or Accounting preferred); or four years equivalent experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Experience leading and managing a team of staff members to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.

    • Have experience with hospitality property management systems and OTAs

    • Experience managing and optimizing budgets to control costs while delivering quality services.
